Automation Script Update

I haven’t posted as much as I’d like to this last week. That’s because I’ve been extremely busy rewriting my automation script, and starting a new project for a client. This all means I’ve had very little time to share my progress with everyone. Now that things have settled down a bit, I’m back at it and want to give you the latest news.

The rewritten automation script is mostly working, but it clearly needs more testing on my part before I can release it to beta testers. And, based on some feedback I’ve received, I need to also make several changes to the way keywords and locations are selected.

Just to review: the old version allowed someone to add a list of keywords and then select a preset group of 50 locations. The old system would then take each keyword and loop through the 50 locations to produce between 9,000 and 10,000 leads.

Old System: 50 Locations per Keyword

But what if a client doesn’t want that and instead wants…

50 Keywords per Location or 10 Keywords per Location? Ouch, my current system couldn’t handle that.

The feedback I received reminded me of this type of situation and how realistic it would be. Customers will definitely want a different search criteria than what I had so I need to make my system work for that type of request as well.

For example; a customer may want leads produced from 5 keywords, limited to the 5 largest Southern California cities. This type of request certainly would be common and my system will need to be able to handle it.

Well that means more work is needed on my part. I’ll need to build a better way to enter what customers want. Then be able to calculate what to charge them and finally be able to automatically generate and deliver their order.

So that is exactly what I’ve been working on for the last few weeks and I’m happy to say I’ve made really good progress towards that goal.
